Noro Kureyon

I went to my LYS (ever in KY and need a "fix" check this place out) and bought some Noro Kureyon and the book "One Skein" by Leigh Radford, I can't wait to go back once I get more money or need more yarn (which might be soon because dummy here only bought one skein of Noro Kureyon!), I also found a drop spindle that I wanted ($15!) and they had a lot of roving, I actually considered putting my yarn back (I didn't find the book yet) to get them but I didn't want to screw around with a spindle to only end up with a twisted mess (the horror!). Maybe I'll give it a shot next summer or something when I can go outside and dye some plain roving...maybe.

In plotting out my future, instead of being one of those teenage girls who picks out her future kids' names I'm picking out names for my future sheep and alpaca! My parents roll their eyes but don't ever underestimate what I can do. I'm trying to figure out how I can get a sheep in town, you know maybe one of those shetlands, you know all itty-bitty and cutesy-wootsy. I even got to feed a baby sheep at Kentucky Down Under this summer and I have a picture of me holding one (if I can get it out of the frame and scan it I'll upload it). My dog is also part shepherd and she's shown me that's she good at herding (okay, she's killed a couple of squirrels in the process but...if the stupid things didn't tease her. Poor Chloe).

Cap-puccino

I finished a hat on two-needles, the first time I've done a hat worked flat in...uh, forever. The good news is...it fits my 23" head! It is so hard for me to find a cute hat pattern that fits this huge noggin. But it is extremely cute I just wish that it would get down cold enough for me to wear it. Well, wear it for a reason.

New name

I was lying in my bed last night thinking of a new name for my blog. Then it hit me. I love bats, I love knitting. I'm "bat"ty for knitting, get it? So good bye to "Kneed 4 Knitting" (what was I thinking?) and hello to "Batty 4 Knitting" *smashes a wine bottle on the blog*

Happy birthday to me!!!

I will turn 18 at 9:29 PM tonight officially. Hopefully that will be after a supper at...Waffle House! I'm such a party girl! I also started on these socks using one of the gorgeous skeins of yarn that Mrs. H gave me (thanks for the birthday card!). So far they are turning out to be very, very pretty and I can't wait to wear them! If I could only translate the label's symbol. Hehe. :D

Unfortunately my dad had to work today instead of his usual 11 AM to 11 PM though he gets off at 4 PM. If I'm not on here tomorrow have a glorious Christmas Eve and if not on here Monday, have a very Merry Christmas.

By the way, totally loving the knitting kangaroos over at Google:

yarn store

Would it be too much to ask for a local yarn store in this town? Preferably something carrying this, this, this, this, and at least a yarn with something in it other than acrylic or cotton (cotton feels weird I dunno why). At the moment my local yarn store (aka running out in the middle of the day to get some yarn to start or finish something) is Wal-Mart (if they get rid of the yarn section like in the one in the next town or w/e it is, I'm going to boycott Wal-Mart!!) Okay, maybe not boycott seeing as that's our only shopping thing in this town and I'm just lazy I don't want to drive two hours or more to buy toilet paper.

By the way, I've been trying to come up with something to write to put into my senior writing portfolio and have come up with a fabulous idea! (Maybe not to the people reading I might confuse the hell out of them). But it will be an article on...knitting meeting aromatherapy. What kind of music do you listen to? Do you have a candle lit or something scented to help you relax as you knit and purl (or struggle with that stupid pattern that looks so pretty in the picture!)? Has knitting gotten you through a stressful time (i.e. final exams, diagnosis of a disease of a loved one or yourself, death of your goldfish, etc.)? Is there a relaxing yarn of choice?

If anyone reads this and knows of anyone with a knitting blog please link them here if I can get it written up soon that will be great (and of course it will be here!). And if I can get my hands on some of that lavender-scented yarn (can't think of what it is called but I'll find out) I will totally write about it.

Thanks ahead of time!

blocking Marguerite

I finished the knitting of Mrs. H's sweater (Marguerite) last night, now it is blocking on my bed right now as I type. It's going to be hard to keep my brother off my bed (he moved the GameCube into my room because his TV sucks).

The shawl collar on the sweater was awful. I mean it's pretty, yes but you know God forbid you have to put it down to go pee because when you come back you forget what you're doing and have to rip it out to the beginning. No matter how many notes I wrote myself I had to frog it twice!

On to go back and clean my bedroom (it's an all day job)!

4 days till my birthday, 6 days till Christmas...

Glorious Christmas Presents!

Yesterday I was graced with beautiful gifts:
Mrs. H.: 2 skeins of sock yarn (1 is Opal and 1 is Fantissima), some Bath & Body Works "Cherry Blossom Body Butter" (smells great!), and a manicure file which I definitely need!
My Art Club Secret Buddy: 5 skeins of yarn (2 Red Heart Super Saver, 1 Red Heart Holiday, 2 skeins of Caron—3 solid purple, 1 variegated purple, and 1 white with silver in it) and she sewed me a "knitting caddy" which once I get pictures they will be posted!
Mrs. S.: Lindor chocolates (which are now gone! hehe)
Mrs. B.: A card and money (for being her teacher's aide—I won't post the amount but I almost needed CPR in the middle of the hallway)
And that's it. With all this yarn I will be set...for at least a month. Now to look for another sock pattern for one skein of the sock yarns (I already have one pattern, post about it later).

Project Box

I found the perfect box for my "Project Box", I've realized that now that I'm into KALs I might end up working on more than 1 project at a time. I totally want to order some merino yarn from KnitPicks and some of the Jacquard dye so that I can make me some more socks. I keep having to swipe socks from my mom because I lose my plain white socks because they are dull! If I had some...I dunno, purple socks than that would totally rock and I would remember to put them in the wash (hand wash of course!) but I want to wait for warm weather, or spring whichever should come first with messed up Kentucky weather. I haven't felt much like knitting this weekend I guess I'm just extremely excited that this is my last week of school for 2006. I did knit some washcloths from an old Creative Knitting magazine (I will find that later because I'm tired and about to go to bed). I have to finish going through my magazines getting all of my "Project Box" designs written out, printed out, and cut out so they can go into my box before January 1st. I'll start up a blog entry just for my 2007 knits (that I've noticed some people do). It's hard to believe that in two months my cousin will have a baby (our first baby in the family in...*calculates in head* 14 years) and in only five months I will be a high school graduate. Amazing where the time goes right? Anyway, I'm off for tonight. Seeing as it is 11:01 PM here. Later.

The Project Box

ON THE NEEDLES:

"The Project Box" is my new idea for 2007 to save myself from having so many projects on needles I will write down the information for a pattern (finished size, yardage, etc.) and draw it out of a box. If I like a pattern I will write down "for Me" or "for Someone Else" if it will be a great gift. So if I get that then I will draw from another box of my family with their sizes, favorite colors, etc. We'll see how long that lasts.

Another Project

My librarian/knitting buddy gave me a sweater she wants me to finish I have to wait until tomorrow so she can show me how to do the German cast-on unless I can find it via Google search. It's really pretty but it's with a real pain in the ass lace pattern that's pretty but you get to row 3 and it doesn't look right you think, "Oh crap!" So you frog and do it again. Same issue, so screw it! Continue on and it starts to look like the picture in the book. It's very annoying but I'll finish it because I'm still new at lace work.
