no knitting :( but news

Wow, so I was checking everything on the computer and remembered...didn't I have a knitting blog? So after I remembered my password I decided to log on and catch everyone up. I'm now in college working on a degree in Computer Graphic Design, I haven't been knitting as much as I like to but that's only because I can't afford it. I do have some ideas I just need the time, money, and energy. Sorry, if I've been neglecting everyone and everything I've just been busy.

Happy Birthday to me! (+other random stuff)

Happy 19th Birthday to me!
I bought myself three pairs of pajama bottoms and the comfiest ankle sock/slipper/footie things in the whole world! Well...so far that I know of. :D
Tonight is lasagna and cheesecake. Pretty Wal-Mart cheesecake. It's strawberry (I think...maybe cherry), chocolate, plain, and carmel. I thought (completely out of nowhere) about a white chocolate cheesecake. Mmm, can you say sugar rush all the way down to your toes and back?
Anyway, I've been studying my footie/sock thingies and I seriously think I can make them (if I can't find a pattern online). Oh my God! At Wal-Mart I saw this ADORABLE little yellow cardigan in the infant/toddler section (I like small stuff) and it was so precious!! It was 100% acrylic (more specifically it felt like Caron simply soft) with little emboridered flowers all over but I thought they took away from the cables. Seriously, considering duplicating it for my cousin's baby girl, Natalie. She'd look so precious in it.:D
I looked for the Sweeney Todd soundtrack but unfortunately couldn't find it. But in light of my birthday I want to share this lovely video by Tegan and Sara with you...currently my favorite song/band:
Enjoy!

Tutu...or maybe a better name?

The other day, I had the urge to design and knit a baby raglan sweater. So I pulled out the Knitter's Bible flipped through it a little and found the welted ruffle and thought of making a "tutu" inspired sweater. I was going to do an infant sized but it turned out to fit a two-year-old, which will work...I guess. Now introducing the "Tutu-prototype":
This is the side. I, like many knitters, hate seams so I knit the body in the round. Then I didn't feel like making sleeves and thought it looked like a ballerina's tutu, so I left the sleeves off and made it for warmer weather wearing. Problems I need to fix: -the neck isn't super stretchy and you can't find many toddlers with heads that small -the left shoulder strap is EXTREMELY skinnier than the other Does anyone have a better name idea for it than "Tutu"? It looks a little plan for a toddler, so should I add an embellishment or leave it alone. I was thinking the next one I do will be striped (Fibonacci styled of course)...maybe not. I used Caron's Simply Soft Brights (or whatever the label said) in Grape (ruffle & neck/arm trim) and lavender (body). Listening to: "The Phantom of the Opera" movie (mm...Gerard Butler)

Sorry...

I'm still here. Tonight was actually the first night my computer would let me log on here. I haven't really been knitting until two nights ago. For some reason I just didn't feel like knitting. I'm still unemployed. Of course, I've put applications in EVERYWHERE! There's a fabric store that is taking applications but I won't know anything until after Christmas.

Speaking of which I hope everyone has a safe holiday and Merry Christmahanakwanzakuh! (I don't care if I spelled that right it's just fun to say).

Also, my birthday is coming up on Sunday. I'll be 19! Not entirely sure what to expect...maybe I'll get the same "Learn How to Draw" kit for the third year in a row by my aunt, uncle, and cousin. I know it's the thought that counts...but seriously Nikki told them last year that it was the same from the year before. But, oh well. I'd be happy with a Patternworks gift certificate or even a couple of skeins of a really crappy yarn that I'll find SOMETHING to do with.

Again, Merry Christmahanakwanzakuh to everyone. If I'm not online anymore this month I'll see you in '08.

Good News/Bad News

Good news, I'll have more time to knit.

Bad news, I had to lose my job for that free time.

Damn.

Grr...

I'm going to stop making promises to do stuff, ex. sewing together my gray sweater. I never get around to doing things. I had to pack a lot of my stuff up into boxes when I painted my room forever ago...there's still boxes piled up in my room. I'm just too tired. I'm still trying to get use to working at 3M. I still need to fill out papers to go to the community college in the spring. I need to reapply for financial aid. I need to pick up some yarn and needles and work on SOMETHING!! I'm just so tired and in a lot of pain. Grr...

gray sweater finished

I have finished all the knitting on my gray sweater and this weekend (my log weekend off)I'll sew it together. I should really consider making more of those sweaters in the round without that many seams because this could get really annoying.

Babies, Babies, Everywhere!

It seems to me that everyone I know are having babies. Mostly girl babies. Where are all the little boys? Oh well, little girls are actually a lot easier to knit for I guess. There seems to be a pattern on every website that is designed to be unisex but to me it's just too girly. Oh, and if you knit a sweater too long it could always be turned into a dress. What proud father wants their little boy to wear a dress? Exactly.

I'm going to make a bunch of sweaters (hopefully) in the Fibonacci striped sequencing (as random as possible of course!) using girl colors, boy colors, and some unisex colors. I wonder what yarn I have stashed away in my tote...

my NIP (novel in progress)

Okay, I wouldn't really call it "in progress" but I do have all the character's biographies written up but I still need to look up some crucial medical terminology but I decided to give some information about it to receive some feedback.

It's a young adult novel (but I hope others will enjoy it), about four teens going through problems who are brought together by knitting. I have mapped out some of the knitting horrors and myths to write about, ex. "the love sweater curse," if boys knit they have to be gay, (which adds more drama to Frankie's life since he's a jock and has two older brothers), and the biggest horror...different dye lots in the middle of a project! *enter overdramatic screaming here* (It happened to this one girl I know from my first year in 4-H Crocheting and she only had a few weeks before the 4-H Fashion Show before she realized that they were two different colors of pastel yellow!)

That's all I have for you on that subject. I'm hoping when I get a job, I can get a laptop and be able to work on the story all the time instead of taking up the family computer in the living room, just to be able to zone and write.

I'm planning on taking my cousin and brother bowling this weekend (or if not this weekend some other weekend before they go back to school). Which is *gets out calendar* in 3 weeks!! (Sorry, Mrs. H, I hope the incoming freshman are better to you than they were last year—but honestly, I seriously doubt it).

*groan*

I spent 5 hours cutting weeds for my great-uncle & Poppy out at the tobacco fields and I am so sore! My hands are numb, I have to force myself to hold my knitting needles and wrap the yarn around the needle! Ugh, I think I'm going to go to bed now. 'Night!

knitting again

I picked up a gray sweater and have made it up to a little past the armholes (7/13 decreases made), once I free up my row counter I'll pick up "Barbara" again and get my ass in gear. I have a couple of designs in my sketchbook just waiting to be written & knit up. I have the perfect ideal yarn for a sweater that I call "Belle" but not the ideal color so I'll need help on that. I'll be buying from "Patternworks" since I've ordered from here before and I love it!!

Which color should I order? Unfortunately, I won't be modeling it. Use this as a guide and check out the poll off to the side.

Be sure to check out the poll. :D

no knitting

I haven't been knitting lately. :( I haven't felt like getting out my needles. I've been doing some designs but I have to clear up my needles. I need help get out of my slump.

meme

I was tagged by Norah.

The rules: Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and need to read your blog.

Seven random things (in a totally random order) about me:

1. I was believe it or not, voted the "Quietest" girl in my class.

2. I plan to own an alpaca/sheep ranch someday. I've even been looking and thinking of names.

3. I want to learn to spin wool.

4. I once auditioned for a scary movie that was due out in theaters of March 2004 so far no word on that movie. I didn't even get called back. Bummer.

5. My idols are Tyne Daly (knitter and social worker in "Judging Amy"), Rosie the Riveter, and Vickie Howell.

6. I'm currently working on several novels that probably won't even see the light of day.

7. I hope that one of my novels will turn into a Lifetime movie. Not just any movie but a LIFETIME movie.

And that's it--now I'm supposed to tag 7 people, but I don't like to single anyone out. so, whoever reads my blog and wants to do it.

cute stuff & knitting mysteries...

I'm at school and stuck with a bunch of Art I's who think they know everything about art. So I decided to get onto Etsy and check out some stuff. I really like the stitch markers by Yarndemon. Extremely cute stuff. In addition to the Sock Club here's the "Four Month Stitch Marker Club". I see a lot of cute stitch markers in there that would totally make my taste in yarns look extremely tacky. Also I have been reading some knitting mysteries by Maggie Sefton. But I had to stop since I started with the third book! I have only started with the 3rd book in a series once and that was Harry Potter but everyone knew who Harry Potter was and all the characters in it. But I'm going to have to find the first one "Knit One, Kill Two." So I decided to start reading "Died in the Wool" by Mary Kruger, which is the first in her series. Who'da thunk that there would be knitting mysteries? So much for now. :D

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

When I checked my e-mail tonight I was so utterly shocked at how many people had commented and e-mailed about my paper. Thanks to everyone who sent it to me and thanks to everyone who posted it on their blogs (unfortunately because of this portfolio/graduation/bad grades stress I haven't had much time to read blogs—I just had to go by word of mouth so to speak). We've had a lot of snow days (as compared to last year where we only had 2 and a "threat of snow" day) so my graduation has been pushed to June 1st. :( But at least I don't have to sit in freezing classrooms. But anyway, thanks everyone I have to have the paper written by Friday which I will start on ASAP. (My teacher is evil btw, so writing about knitting would go completely over her head...hehe).

Wednesday deadline, please HHHHHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

I've been trying to come up with something to write to put into my senior writing portfolio and have come up with a fabulous idea! (Maybe not to the people reading I might confuse the hell out of them). But it will be an article on...knitting meeting aromatherapy. What kind of music do you listen to? Do you have a candle lit or something scented to help you relax as you knit and purl (or struggle with that stupid pattern that looks so pretty in the picture!)? Has knitting gotten you through a stressful time (i.e. final exams, diagnosis of a disease of a loved one or yourself, death of your goldfish, etc.)? Is there a relaxing yarn of choice? If anyone reads this and knows of anyone with a knitting blog please link them here if I can get it written up soon that will be great (and of course it will be here!). And if I can get my hands on some of that lavender-scented yarn (can't think of what it is called but I'll find out) I will totally write about it. Thanks ahead of time!

school stress

There has been little knitting from here due to stresses at school and the worst part of the sweater (in my opinion) the decreasing of the armholes, I just can't seem to concentrate. I also believe that my meds aren't cutting it for me. I have an appointment this Saturday to find out if I need them to be stronger. Not to mention there is someone at school that makes me not want to go...but someone who does make me want to go. But I don't want to talk about either one of them. I think I should just stick to knitting circular or on a simple pattern until I can get my meds to be stronger or something. Or I can talk my mom into letting me go to my grandmothers where their heat is on 24/7 and doesn't just kick on when it gets to cold in the house and kicks off when it gets "too hot", because my fingers are freezing. Even now they are so called it isn't even funny!!

It is now 13 degrees out. If there is no snow on the ground tomorrow I will seriously cry.

so busy!!!

It just seems that I am so swamped with random crap that I have to do in order to graduate high school (writing portfolios need to die!!!). It just seems that when I get to English the stupid class seems to last fffffffffffffoooooooooooooorrrrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvvvveeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr! Seeing as we don't do anything anyway. :\

But I have somehow figured out how to knit and read Political Science at the same time. Cool huh?

Wavy is finished!

I finally finished "Wavy" last night. It is so pretty, I just need it to get cold enough for me to wear it out. :( Stupid Kentucky weather!

I wish I had more to write about but I don't feel like it.
